First introduced at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1984, the first incarnation of the M5 was hand-built utilizing the 535i chassis and a modified BMW M1 engine, being the fastest production sedan in the world at the time of its introduction.Subsequent iterations of the M5 have been built from each generation of the 5-Series platform, including the E34, E39, E60/E61, and most recently, F10, with the first orders to be delivered in late 2011. Due to the longevity of its nameplate and undisputed position at the top of BMW's midsize lineup, the M5 remains one of the best known sport sedans, despite competition from Mercedes-AMG and Audi quattro GmbH.

BMW-M6 ~ The cop model

Details for the new generation M6 were announced in February 2012, with it being shown at the Geneva Motor Show the following month. The new model is based on the BMW 6 Series and shares its 7-speed M-DCT gearbox, BMW N63#S63 TwinTurbo V8 engine and other technology with the BMW M5. The M6 coupé has a carbon-fiber roof and other weight saving measures, making it 20 kg (44 lb) lighter than the M5, however it is 140 kg (309 lb) heavier than the previous M6. The M6 convertible is 50 kg (110 lb) heavier than the previous M6 Convertible. The official performance figures claim acceleration from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 4.2 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) without the M Sport package (allows it to run up to 315 km/h) . The design style is similar to all recent M cars. The front of the car has a newly designed M kidney grille with an “M6” badge – a homage to the first generation M6.[8]

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, colloquially known as the Lancer Evo or Evo, is a high-performance sedan manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. There have been ten official versions to date, and the designation of each model is most commonly a roman numeral. All use two litre, turbocharged engines and four-wheel drive systems. The Evolution was originally intended only for Japanese markets, but demand on the "grey import" market led the Evolution series to be offered through Ralliart dealer networks in the United Kingdom and in various European markets from around 1998. Mitsubishi decided to export the eighth generation Evolution to the United States in 2003 after witnessing the success Subaru had in that market with their long time direct rival, the Impreza WRX. Japanese-spec cars were limited by a gentlemen's agreement to advertise no more than 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp), a mark already reached by Evolution IV. Therefore, each subsequent version has unofficially evolved above the advertised power figures, with the Japanese-spec Evolution IX reaching an alleged output of around 321 PS (236 kW; 317 hp). Various versions available in other markets, particularly the UK, have official power outputs up to 411 PS (302 kW; 405 hp). The tenth generation of the Lancer Evolution was launched in Japan 2007, and overseas markets in 2008.

When it was developed, Mercedes-Benz owned 40 percent of the McLaren Group. Due to the automatic gear box, front mid-engined arrangement, and its driving characteristics, some commentators classify the SLR McLaren as a GT, whose rivals would be vehicles such as the Aston Martin DBS V12 and Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.
